Life in the studio

A relief woodcut carved whilst listening to my composition Sea Tunes. An arrangement of field recordings with synthesised elements, inspired by a visit to the Southern Hebrides.

Sea Tunes = an ambient composition

Calmac = inspired by wonderful sea journeys

Artist Statement

Nita finds the idea of connecting Fine Art and Craft particularly interesting. Her work is inspired by the natural environment and the play of light on surfaces at the beginning and end of the day when light is very contrasty. She makes printing plates from wood, lino, aluminium, zinc and card and explores collage and lithographic techniques. Nita enjoys walking in the Pennine hills and has been discovering new places in West Yorkshire where she now lives. It is here where Nita finds her inspiration through interaction with the natural environment.
